There are almost too many good things to eat and drink this weekend in Pittsburgh. Our weekend picks?
We know so much better than to miss The Vandal’s Bob’s Burger’s takeover this weekend, even if they’re taking our favorite regular burger off the menu for dishes like I’m A Slav For You, with halushki, red cabbage and Polish sausage, and Cheese Whiz Khalifa fries. This beauty will be back on Monday!
Beet salads are a recent obsession of ours, and so Bar Marco’s weekend addition of roasted beets, with stracciatella, pistachio and orange is like music to our ears.
It’s the very last weekend to get the ScareHouse Dirt Pudding Shake at Burgatory Bar. Not only is it delicious (it’s made with crumbled Oreos, vanilla ice cream, housemade vanilla custard, drizzled with chocolate sauce and topped with gummy worms), but it also benefits the Mario Lemieux Foundation. And you can spike it with chocolate vodka, so win, win, win.
Sienna on the Square just introduced a new fall menu, with this deliciously simple Linguini Carbonara, made with pancetta, peas, pecorino romano cheese, and a perfectly-poached egg. It’s hearty, it’s classic, and it’s oh-so-good.
And over at Sienna’s sister restaurant Sienna Mercato, Thanksgiving balls are back. Yep, they’re turkey meatballs mixed with stuffing, cranberries and sage, and served over mashed potatoes and chicken gravy. Have at it, Thanksgiving lovers.
Sewickley’s Cocothe has rolled out some new fall dishes, and making the cut is this gorgeous plate of Eichner’s Farm chicken, a house-made puff pastry, seasonal vegetables and a chicken jus creme reduction.
Finally, a huge part of our weekend will be spent making cookies for our Cookie Swap & Contest on November 14 at the Pittsburgh Public Market. Want to join? It’s completely free, and we’ll have lots of cookie-filled fun. Register here.
