This news is going to make some people very happy.
FRIO Creamery, a new ice cream shop, has just opened in central Lawrenceville. What makes it so special? The shop exclusively serves ice cream from Penn State’s Berkey Creamery, the university’s super-famous on-campus creamery, which is known for their science-backed homemade ice cream recipes, and a cult status among Penn State students and alumni.
FRIO Creamery will serve a rotating list of Penn State Creamery ice cream flavors, with 12 flavors on the menu right now, including Peanut Butter, Butter Pecan, Bittersweet Mint, Just Peachy, Chocolate, Chocolate Marshmallow, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Vanilla Bean, Death by Chocolate, Alumni Swirl, Coffee Break and Cookies & Cream.
The menu will also feature classic milkshakes, made using any of the available flavors at the shop, and specialty milkshakes loaded with additional toppings, in flavors like Key Lime Pie, Fried Ice Cream, Nutella Lover, Coffee Affair, and Strawberry Cheesecake.
Prices start at $3 for one scoop of ice cream, available in a waffle cone or cup. Toppings, like gummy candies, sprinkles, crushed cookies, and M&Ms are also available.
Penn State Berkey Creamery’s ice cream is only available in a few select places outside of Penn State. In the Pittsburgh area, fans of the brand can find it at Krum’s Creamery in Elizabeth, the Rolling Cones ice cream truck, and Scoop’s Ice Cream in Blairsville.
FRIO Creamer will be open on Mondays through Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., on Fridays and Saturdays from 12:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and on Sundays from noon to 10:00 p.m.
