This Sunday, Wigle Whiskey and Caffe d’Amore Catering are hosting a Shrubdown, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Shrub is a Colonial-era method of fruit preservation that uses a combination of fruit, sugar, and vinegar to create a concentrate that can be used to flavor drinks – usually cocktails, or soft drinks.
At the Shrubdown, a group of local bartenders and shrub-makers will be competing with their homemade concoctions, which will be mixed with local organic spirits from Wigle for a cocktail combination that you probably haven’t had the chance to try yet.
Competitors include shrub-makers from The Livermore, Blackberry Meadows Farm, Wild Purveyors, 1947 Tavern and Butterjoint.
If you’d like to join, tickets are $12 in advance, and are good for a free mixed drink, and shrub soda samples.
The Shrubdown is going down at Wigle Whiskey on Sunday evening from 4:00 to 6:00, and tickets can be purchased here.
