More and more restaurants in and around the city are working hard to provide gluten-free options on their menu.  If you, or a loved one, live gluten-free, check out some of these places in Pittsburgh that make it easy to avoid gluten:

Naturally Soergel’s

Naturally Soergel’s, located in Wexford, is the natural food shops associated with the popular Soergel’s Orchards. Owner Amy Soergel was diagnosed celiac disease in 2007, and opened Naturally Soergel’s in 2009 to provide organic, natural, gluten-free and allergen-free food options for those shopping in the North Hills.  The shop has over 1500 gluten-free products, and a very knowledgeable staff. Naturally Soergel’s (2573 Brandt School Road, Wexford)

Gluuteny Bakery

Gluuteny is a favorite gluten-free and dairy-free bakery in Pittsburgh. Located on Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill, Gluuteny is your one-stop shop for cakes, cookies, muffins and more!  Everything from the bakery is made in-house from scratch that day.  Be sure to check out their savory options, like bread loaves and pizza crusts, and their ‘Goodies of the Month‘ club, to get gluten-free treats delivered to your door. Gluuteny Bakery (1923 Murray Avenue)

Eden’s Market

Eden’s Market in Mt. Lebanon dubs itself as a “gluten-free emporium.” Everything in the shop is gluten-free, as well as many dairy-free, nut-free, vegetarian and vegan options. It is possible to browse and order all of their items online. From flour to condiments and pastas, Eden has it all. Eden’s Market (99 Alfred Street)

Gluten Free Goat Bakery

Even long before the the doors to the wildly popular, brick-and-mortar Gluten Free Goat Cafe opened in Garfield, the Gluten Free Goat was a staple in Pittsburgh. Owner Jeanette Harris has been selling her gluten-free treats around Pittsburgh since 2014, but cooking without gluten for much longer than that. The Gluten Free Goat Bakery sells the donuts Harris is famous for, but also serves a completely gluten-free brunch on the weekends.  There are grab & go items available throughout the week. Additionally, the shop sells many vegan and dairy-free options, like vegan cheesecake. Gluten Free Goat Bakery (4905 Penn Avenue)

Cop-out Pierogies

This delicious, but under-the-radar pierogie shop in Etna, is happy to accommodate gluten-free eaters. Cop-out is known for its wild pierogie flavors like Buffalo Chicken, Cheeseburger, Ruben, Pilgrim, Watermelon, and more! Call the store to ask about special orders for gluten-free pierogies. Cop-out Pierogies (350 Butler Street, Etna)

Arsenal Cider

All of the drinks poured at Pittsburgh’s favorite cider house, Arsenal Cider, are naturally gluten-free. Because the drinks are made from the fermented juice of apples, there is no need to worry about wheat being in the drinks. Arsenal Cider has locations in Lawrenceville, Wexford, and Finleyville, as well as being served on tap in many locations around the city. Arsenal Cider (various locations)

B52 Cafe

B52 Cafe, a trendy vegan restaurant in Lawrenceville, provides many naturally gluten-free dishes on their menu.  Options like the latkes, sauteed shiitake, fries and the avocado plate are all gluten-free. Stop through for a refreshingly light, but filling meal. B52 Cafe (5202 Butler Street)

Nothing Bundt Cakes

When we announced a few weeks ago that Nothing Bundt Cakes was coming to Upper St. Clair, one of the things people were most excited about was the fact that the bakery sold a gluten-free bundt cake!  The shop’s “Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough” cake is gluten free, and is a great way to provide an easy, gluten-free treat at parties when you don’t have a gluten-free kitchen to cook in. Nothing Bundt Cakes (100 Siena Drive, Suite 225)

Eden Bistro

Eden is a gluten-free bistro located in Shadyside. With dishes like pasta, salmon, and even a special beet tartare, there is something on the menu that everyone can enjoy. There are also many vegan options, and the restaurant sources locally. Eden Bistro (735 Copeland Street)

Aurochs Brewing

Pittsburgh is lucky to have a completely gluten-free brewery and taproom located in Pittsburgh near Neville Island. Additionally, Aurochs provides gluten-free beer to locations around the ‘burgh, and can be found in over 20 locations in the city. The taproom has only been open since September of last year, but the team has been brewing gluten-free beer for several years, using ingredients like quinoa to ensure the beer is safe. Café Chocolade

Café Chocolade offers a plethora of gluten-free treats and doughs, and promises to “take gluten-free to the next level.” The bakery can do intricate cakes, pizzas, muffins, bread, hoagies, bagels, and even dough to go! Follow their facebook for updates on what fresh gluten-free options they are serving that day. Cafe Chocolade (7061 Steubenville Pike, Oakdale)

Mandy’s Pizza

Mandy’s Pizza provides an entirely gluten-free and allergen-free menu so everyone can enjoy pizza, hoagies, and pasta! Pizza options range from Hawaiian, BBQ Chicken, Buffalo Chicken, and more. Mandy’s is located in the North Hills. Mandy’s Pizza (512 Perry Highway)

  • Square Cafe in Regent Square
  • Burgatory (multiple locations)
  • Franktuary (Lawrenceville and Downtown)
