January 29, 2018 by Emily Catalano 1 Comment

In this episode of Good Food Pittsburgh Radio, Emily and Madeline talk about our favorite hidden gem restaurants in Pittsburgh, what we’re drinking in town right now, and share all of your suggestions for additions to Madeline’s pasta road trip.

Plus, Emily talks about her visit to the KDKA Morning News with Larry Richert and John Shumway, and why this story about Murphy Brown coming back to the air is the best news she’s heard all week.

We discuss our favorite under-the-radar Pittsburgh-area restaurants, including:

  • Grant Bar

  • Casa Reyna
  • Smiling Banana Leaf
  • Don’s Diner

And we want to hear your favorite hidden gems! Send us an email at [email protected], or leave a comment below.

Part 2

Madeline and I share our favorite drinks in the city right now, including Jack’s Hard Cider, Burgh’ers brews, the Almond Coffee Cake cocktail at Maggie’s Farm Rum, and our picks at Pittsburgh Juice Company.

I just listened to this episode. Madeline, I couldn’t agree more about IPA’s. I lived in the PNW 15ish years ago, when the IPA craze took over there and just totally burnt myself out on extreme hoppiness. In typical PGH fashion, we’re jumping on the trend a decade later and every bar just pours 10 different IPAs. The good news is, if our ability to follow trends is accurate, sour beers should be all over PGH soon…and that’s great news!
