The summer that I turned 21, I was living in a house with six other women (my very best friends), in our college rowhouse in Philadelphia. We were each taking a few classes that summer, but aside from that, our schedules were blissfully free.
So what did we do with all of that free time? We hung out. And we drank a lot of beer.
From stoop-sitting late into night to BBQs in our miniscule backyard, we spent practically every minute together that summer, talking about nothing (and everything), and soaking up that special time in life before we all had real jobs, and mortgages, and 401Ks. We made a million memories, threw a lot of parties, and cemented friendships that have lasted to this day.
It’s been a number of years since that summer, but the first time that I tried Great Lakes Brewing Company’s Turntable Pils, I was transported back to those warm, fun, carefree nights – those nights that were all ours. That’s why I’m so excited to team up with GLBC as part of ‘All Yours’ campaign, celebrating the connection that beer fans have with Great Lakes beers.
I love a good pilsner, and Turntable Pils isn’t just good – it’s great. It’s easy to drink, incredibly smooth and refreshing, with a just-enough hoppy taste, perfect for drinking away summer days. Basically, everything you want in a beer when you’re just hanging with friends, having a good time – just like you did back in college.
My first taste of Turntable Pils had a hint of honey sweetness, then grew into a more complex malt flavor, with a little bit of spice thrown in for good measure. You know when a beer is called “extremely drinkable”? That term was kinda made for this one. I wish that Turntable Pils is what we were drinking back in college, but sadly, I discovered my new favorite brew a few years too late. As great as it would have been to pair it with the pizza that was constantly on the menu that summer, it’s even better paired with the burgers and steaks that we grill now in our (slightly larger) backyards.
This year, Great Lakes Brewing Company is launching a Pint Size Pub summer tour, a traveling version of the GLBC brewpub experience, giving people across the country the chance to make their own summer memories. The Cleveland brewery has been around since the 80s, and was built to celebrate seriously good craft beer, with a team of people who dedicated themselves to producing sophisticated, diverse brews that bring friends together.
Now, you can drive out to Cleveland to visit the brewery yourself (you know it’s only about two hours away from Pittsburgh, right?), or you can catch them on tour. Just stay tuned to https://www.greatlakesbrewing.com to see the official announcement of all of the Pint Size Sub tour stops. Plus, as part of the tour, GLBC will be giving away a prize that includes a trip to the brewery to help them celebrate their 30th anniversary in September. Be sure to follow GLBC on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
And, if you want to choose your own special Great Lakes beer, check out the brewery’s beer finder to find out where GLBC is available near you.
