Hidden Harbor Tiki Bar Opens In Squirrel Hill

January 19, 2016 by Emily Catalano 1 Comment

Need a little paradise right now? Hidden Harbor, a new tiki bar in Squirrel Hill, is opening its doors tonight, giving you the perfect antidote to those sub-zero temperatures.

The bar, from Independent Brewing Company’s Adam Henry and brothers Peter and Matthew Kurzweg, will feature a barroom and a lounge, and specialize in straight-from-the-tropics drinks.

Henry tells us that the initial cocktail menu for the soft opening will feature tropical drinks with an emphasis on Puerto Rican and Jamaican rum concoctions. Over the next couple of weeks, the menu will expand to include other original drinks, including molecular cocktails.

In the kitchen, chef Monique Ruvolo will launch a small and shared plate program, with plans to expand the menu in the coming weeks.

Opening hours are Tuesday and Wednesday, 6:00 to 11:00 pm., and Thursday to Saturday 6:00 p.m. to midnight.

Hidden Harbor’s opening cocktail menu:

Hidden Harbor
Panamanian rum, lemon, orgeat, blue-green curacao, maraschino
Served in an ice shell-lined coupe ($11)

Fassionola Fizz
Gin, lemon, fassionola, egg white, cream, seltzer, orange flower water
Made and served in the fashion of the classic Ramos gin fizz ($12)

Served frozen, with a purple orchid ($12)

Tropic Thunder

Served in a Hidden Harbor Mai Tai glass with a custom shark swizzle ($12

This is an amazing “hidden treasure” in the burgh. Be sure to check out their cordials-made in house from scratch…I have never been a big cocktail fan until having their Greenjacket…minty YUM!
