Attention beer fans – another Pittsburgh brewery has entered the world of can release madness! Pittsburgh favorite Hitchhiker Brewing has announced that they are beginning weekly can releases, starting this Saturday, November 26, at 12:00 p.m.
The brewery tested the waters this week by releasing cans of their “Barbarian IPA” on Friday, November 18. After a successful first foray into the world of canning, the brewery is having their first official release this Saturday with their “Myrcene Double IPA.” This beer is hopped with Vic Secret, Citra, and Motueka.
Moving forward, the brewery plans to release a different canned beer every week. For the present time, the releases will occur on various days. Eventually, the brewery may stick to a more set schedule.Â
The beers planned for release in the upcoming weeks are as follows:
Week of November 26:Â Stranger Than Me Gose w/ Mango and Pineapple,
Week of December 3: The Shakes Coffee Porter
In the future, fans can also expect to see “Whole Punch: Hawaiian Punch,” a beer brewed with Hibiscus, milk sugar, vanilla, and tropical fruits like mango, pineapple, passion fruit. Think of it as adult Hawaiian Punch.
The beer varieties chosen for canning will typically be outside of the core drafts that are always on tap at the brewery.Â
Cans will be available at both Hitchhiker locations (Sharpsburg and Mt. Lebanon). They are 16 oz. and available in 4-Packs, 12-Packs, and cases. There is no limit on how many cans a guest can purchase.Â
Just like the their fans, the Hitchhiker is equally excited to create a regular canning schedule.Â
“We’ve wanted to do this forever, but now we finally have the capacity and space to make it happen,” says head brewer Andy Kwiatkowski.
