There will soon be a brand new place for comfort food favorites in Charleroi.
Home, a restaurant that was originally located in the Smallman Galley, is taking their talents for putting modern spins on classic dishes to a new space on McKean Avenue.
The restaurant is a partnership between owners Phill Milton and Matt Stepp, and will be opening within the next month.
Milton says that they’ll be offering their “Home comfort take on modern diner fare,” and will be open for breakfast and lunch six days a week.
The original iteration of Home featured stick-to-your-ribs comfort food dishes like Biscuits & Gravy, Chicken & Waffles, Pot Roast Omelets, Pimento Cheese Grits, hearty burgers, and desserts served in Mason jars. Milton says that in the new space, guests can expect to see some of their old favorites (fingers crossed for a return of the Quack Mac, a duck confit Mac & Cheese dish!), plus new dishes that he and Stepp have been perfecting.
“We have been digging deep into Appalachian food, so [you] can expect some Home twists on some of those wonderful dishes,” Milton says.
The restaurant will be taking over the space of the former cafe Coffee Food Zin.
