How to Celebrate Valentine’s Day 2023 in Pittsburgh

Valentine’s Day is one week away, and if you haven’t yet made reservations… you may be a little out of luck. But that’s okay! There’s still plenty of ways to show your sweetheart you care, and there’s a lot to be said for having a quiet night at home (with some delicious takeout, that is).

We’ve rounded up the best places where you can still go on February 14, plus a few ideas for Valentine’s Day-inspired treats and foodie gifts that your loved one will be sure to appreciate.

Dining Out, or Dining In

Pane è Pronto: The Strip District eatery is offering a Valentine’s Day Take-and-Bake Dinner for Two for Valentine’s Day (pickup is February 14 between 2:00 and 6:00 p.m.). Each package is $78, and features house-baked bread and whipped ricotta, strawberry salad, Rigatoni with beet pesto, Chicken Cacciattore, and assorted Italian cookies. Order online.

Pizzeria Davide: If you’d rather go more casual, Pizzeria Davide locations in the Strip District and Robinson will be offering heart-shaped pizzas (for an additional $2) on Valentine’s Day. Online pre-orders are now being accepted.

Alta Via Pizzeria: From February 10 – February 14, Alta Via Pizzeria in Bakery Square will also have heart-shaped pies, available in Sausage & Roasted Red Pepper, and Mushroom & Roasted Red Pepper.

Scratch & Co: Troy Hill’s Scratch & Co will be hosting a deadfish Valentine’s pop-up on Monday, February 13, and a Taqueria Acosta Valentine’s Day pop-up on Tuesday, February 14, both available for takeout and in-person dining. Call 412-251-0822 for reservations.

Station: A few early reservations are still available at Station in Bloomfield for February 14, and the restaurant will be offering their prix-dinner menu, with a few special additions, including Short Rib stuffed with fermented red pepper shells and smoked ricotta, Black Garlic Prime Rib, and a Blood Orange Tart, through Sunday, February 19.

Threadbare Cider: Celebrate Valentine’s Day a little early this year with Threadbare Pizza’s annual Valentine’s Prix Fixe dinner on Saturday, February 11. They’ll have two seatings (one at 5:00 p.m. and one at 7:30 p.m.) for their $99 per-couple dinner, which will include two cider pours, one shared appetizer, two heart-shaped pizzas, and one shared dessert. Reservations can be made online.

Forma Pasta: Pre-orders are now available for Forma Pasta’s Valentine’s Take-Home Kit, which will be available for pickup starting February 11. Each kit is $75 and serves two, and includes bread with fennel hone butter, Tomato Florentine soup, Sweet Italian Sausage Stuffed Manicotti, Spinach and Ricotta Lasagna, and Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Panna Cotta. Reach out to Forma through Instagram to order.

National Aviary: The National Aviary is hosting a family-friendly Valentine’s Day brunch on Sunday, February 12, with seatings at 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $55 for adults and $35 for children, and also include admission to the aviary. Reservations are available online.

Mediterra Café: On Tuesday, February 14, Mediterra Café in Sewickley is hosting a Valentine’s Prix-Fixe dinner. Tickets are $125 per person, and include a five-course seafood-focused meal, as well as wine pairings with each course. Reservations can be made online.

Bona Fide Beer Co: If you’re more into celebrating your friends this holiday, Bona Fide Beer Co. is hosting a Galentine’s Day Brunch on Sunday, February 12. Tickets are are $55, and include a cocktail or beer, a DIY flower bouquet bar, and brunch.

Tina’s: Enjoy Valentine’s In Boom, an after-dinner pastry experience on Tuesday, February 14 at Tina’s. The bar and bottle shop will be offering reservations for a four-course pastry menu, with a welcome drink, for $20 per person. Make reservations online.

Two Frays Brewing: A Valentine’s Beer & Cheese Pairing with Two Frays Brewing on Monday, February 13 will feature a two-hour lesson in cheese and beer, with four samples of cheese paired with four Two Frays beers. Tickets are $50 per couple.

Foodie Treats and Gift Ideas

Lola’s Eatery: Valentine’s Day doughnuts will be available throughout the weekend at Lola’s Eatery, including Strawberry Shortcake doughnuts, Red Velvet cake doughnuts, and their super-popular seasonal creme brulee heart doughnuts. They’re open Thursdays through Sundays, and pre-orders are available before the shop opens.

Confections by Casey Renee: If you gave me a box of treats from Confections by Casey Renee, I think it would be the best Valentine’s ever. The baker’s Valentine’s Day specials include chocolate-covered strawberries, chocolate peanut butter heart cake pops, Champagne Jello Shooters, git boxes, chocolate cakes, and more. Blanket & Board: Enjoy an evening at home with a charcuterie box from Blanket & Board. The picnic and charcuterie board company is offering a variety of options for Valentine’s Day (pickup is on February 13), including cheese and charcuterie boxes, and a DIY picnic option. See more online.

Chantal’s Cheese Shop: Order a Valentine’s Day cheese plate for two from Chantal’s for a cozy night in. Each plate includes a selection of cheese and charcuterie, jams, chocolate hearts, dried fruit, and more. Each box is $59.99, and can be pre-ordered online.

Baked True North: Gluten-free bakery Baked True North has an assortment of Valentine’s Day treats, including heart-shaped cookie cakes, sugar cookies, and sugar-cookie heart GOBS are available for pre-order, and pickup Wednesday through Saturday.
