If you’d love to have a garden, but don’t have the space, Grow Pittsburgh might have a solution, in the form of a community garden.
They’re offering a series of classes for anyone who is interested in building a community garden in their own neighborhood.
The three-part course will cover a wide range of topics, from finding the land to securing funding and building community support.
Here’s the schedule:
Thursday, August 27, 6:00 to 8:00 p..m. – Building community support, creating a vision for the garden, asset mapping and successful meeting strategies. Location: Grow Pittsburgh office, 6587 Hamilton Ave. #2W, Pittsburgh PA
Thursday, September 3, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. – Selecting an appropriate site, garden committee roles, materials needed, garden layout. Location: Grow Pittsburgh office, 6587 Hamilton Ave. #2W, Pittsburgh PA
Thursday, September 10, 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. – On-site tour of local community garden. Location: TBD
The course costs $30 for Grow Pittsburgh members, and $40 for non-members, though scholarships are available.
