102.5 WDVE will be celebrating their golden anniversary in style.
Pittsburgh Brewing Company, makers of Iron City Beer, have just released a limited-edition pint, celebrating the mainstay Pittsburgh radio station.
The 16-ounce “pounder” cans feature DVE’s 50th anniversary logo and a special gold top to commemorate the station’s golden anniversary.
Each can also features a special message to “Pittsburgh’s favorite station”:
From the city’s best DJ’s, to rooting for the Black & Gold, to the best damn rock on the radio – let’s raise an Iron to WDVE for 50 years on the airwaves.
Pittsburgh Brewing Company’s head of business development Joe Avi says that the collaboration came from the brewery’s previous relationship with I Heart Radio.
“They came to us with the idea, and we loved it. Especially as a 16-ounce can,” he says. “Pounders do really well for us here in Pittsburgh.”
Avi says that the cans will be widely available throughout Pittsburgh at “your favorite place to buy beer,” both in stores and beer distributors.
The WDVE cans are delivering from Pittsburgh Beer Company’s wholesaler this week, and will be available for purchase in the coming days.
While the cans were originally supposed to be released a few weeks ago, a delay moved the official release date back.
“It worked out, because now we’re in Steelers tailgate time, and what’s better than that?,” Avi asks.
The cans will only be available for a limited time, but a potential extension is possible.
“We feel pretty good that these will go pretty fast,” says Avi. “Pittsburgh loves Pittsburgh – that’s what’s so special about it.”
