All hail the fresh-picked strawberry! It’s not quite strawberry season yet in Western Pennsylvania, but three local farms have shared plans for their annual festivals, each of which celebrate all things strawberry.
On the schedule:
Trax Farms
Strawberry Festival: June 11 and June 12.
Both days at Trax Farm’s Strawberry Festival will be filled with homemade strawberry treats, children’s activities (including a garden craft and bounce house) and live entertainment. The menu for the festival, now in its 27th year, includes traditional BBQ fare and strawberry-drenched desserts, like strawberry sundaes, strawberry shortcakes, chocolate-covered strawberries and strawberry milkshakes.

Triple B Farms
Strawberry Festival: June 4 & June 5 and June 11 & June 12
Triple B Farms’ Strawberry Festival takes place over the first two weekends in June, and gives guests the chance to pick-you-own-strawberries, with a strawberry pancake breakfast, strawberry desserts, hayrides, and children’s activities.

Soergel Orchards
Strawberry Festival: TBD
Soregel Orchards always hosts one of the biggest Strawberry Festivals each year, and plan on doing the same this season. This year’s Strawberry Festival will include hayrides, pick-your-own-strawberries, and a food festival with strawberry-themed desserts. The one thing that the festival doesn’t have yet? A date.
Soergel’s Eric Voll says that because of this year’s weather, and the impact it has had on their strawberry crop, they haven’t yet been able to solidify a date for their annual festival. But, they expect to set it within the next two weeks.
The two tentative dates for this year’s festival are June 5 or June 18, depending on the ripening patterns of the fields, Voll says.
Keep checking Soergel’s website and Facebook page for updates.
