Good Friday is only a day away, and that means that the Pittsburgh Lenten fish fry season is coming to a close. And if that makes you as sad as it makes us, you’re in luck, because you have one final chance to enjoy a traditional fish fry dinner – and this one not only supports a great cause, but also has some stellar Pittsburgh restaurants involved, too.
Keep Pittsburgh Fishy is presenting ‘Fry Another Day,’ their fourth annual secular fish fry dinner at Spirit Hall in Lawrenceville on Friday, April 1 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
This year’s dinner will benefit Dreams of Hope, a local queer youth arts programming non-profit.
Each $10 dinner will include a spiced cornmeal-crusted fish sandwich, served with a Sriracha mayo ‘tartar’ sauce, or a vegetarian beet sandwich, prepared by Spirit. The folks at APTEKA are contributing a vegan horseradish slaw, and a vegetarian Macaroni and Cheese from The Vandal will round out the meal.
There will also be fresh-baked desserts from local baker Becca Hegarty available for purchase, along with bar beverages (you won’t find those at a Catholic cafeteria).
The family-friendly event is cash only, and will also include a photo booth and music from DJs The Lopez and Cure for Restless Legs.
