The first Pittsburgh Food Swap is only a week away, and there are still a few tickets available.
We’ll be hosting the swap at Pittsburgh Public Market on September 20 at 2:00 p.m., with dozens of other local home cooks on hand, ready to swap their homemade goodies.
Here’s how it works: Each person brings 10 to 15 items of something that they’ve made (or something they’ve grown) in their own kitchen. That could be anything – lemon curd, cookies, bread, pickles, jam – as long as it’s homemade, we’ll take it.
At the beginning of the swap, everyone gets to mingle a bit, and do some taste-testing. Once the swap starts, everything is swapped one to one (think one jar of lemon curd for one small package of cookies). That way, you get to leave with the same number of items that you came with – only this time, you’ll be leaving with a variety of other homemade treats.
We’ll be bringing our semi-famous Bread & Butter Pickles, and NEXTPittsburgh is coming too, with a big batch of chicken chili. And, you can’t miss Carla from Chocolate Moosey, who will be joining us with her insanely-delicious Peanut Butter Marshmallow Brownies.
So…. want to show off your culinary skills, and meet others in the Pittsburgh food community?
