Ooh la la! There’s exciting news coming out of East Liberty!
In September, Pittsburgh was elated to hear the news that Macaron Bar, a Cincinnati-based macaron shop, was opening their first location in Pittsburgh. Coming later this summer, the brand has even more sweet news.
After years of logistics and location scouting, Macron bar is opening a retail space with kitchen on Penn Avenue in East Liberty. The shop will be located across from the CVS, and below the Beauty Shoppe co-working space.
In addition to being a grab-and-go cookie bar, the brand will utilize their in-house kitchen to host macaron baking and pairing classes. Many of the classes will be open to the public, but the space can also be rented for private events, bachelorette parties, and birthday parties.
“We are going to try do as many activities as we can,” says owner Michael Shem Wagner.
In even more impressive news, the popular Pittsburgh-based coffee company KLVN Coffee Lab will be operating a full service coffee bar in the space. This will be the first public shop for the brand, which sells their gourmet coffees at shops and cafes around the city.
This is not the first time Macaron Bar has collaborated with a Pittsburgh business. This past winter, Macaron Bar created macaron-gelato sandwiches with Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream.
Macaron Bar will continue to operate their kiosk at the Ross Park Mall. Having a production space in the city will allow them to continue growing around Pittsburgh, and open addition outposts.
The brand will also be able to create exclusive, Pittsburgh-themed cookies. For example, Macaron Bar Louisville serve Mint Julep macaron.
“Its not going to be a Primanti Brothers macaron, but we will figure it out,” laughs Wagner.
Macaron Bar East Liberty aims to open towards the end of summer 2018.
