If you enjoy canning, baking, pickling and creating your own homemade goodies, join other local food lovers for an afternoon of swapping your homemade treats.
Good Food Pittsburgh at the Pittsburgh Public Market are sponsoring the first Pittsburgh Food Swap on September 20 at Pittsburgh Public Market.
The swap will be open to anyone who wants to share their homemade jams, sauces, baked goods, spice blends, granola, pastas and anything else that they made (or grew!) in their own kitchen.
Each participant will bring an assortment of their homemade edible treats (or home-grown treats, or specially-foraged treats) to exchange with other Pittsburgh Swappers. There’s no maximum or minimum amount to bring, though we suggest that 10 to 15 items per person. Participants can bring several of the same item, or an assortment of items, as long as they’re made by you. It’s also great to bring a sample of your item for tastings.
Once everyone is together and set up, the swapping starts. We’ll be providing swapping cards, where you can request a swap with another participant. No one is under any obligation to swap with you, and you’re under no obligation to swap with them. Each swap is one item to one item, so you should leave with as many items as you came with – they’ll just be an assortment of homemade treats from other Pittsburgh food lovers!
The swap is free, though you must register. Find more information, and register HERE.
When: Saturday, September 20 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Where: Pittsburgh Public Market, 2401 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh
