A new ice cream truck is about add a little sweetness to the streets of Pittsburgh.
Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream has just announced that they’re entering the city’s food truck market with their very own ice cream van.
The vintage 1974 Morrison Bedford ice cream van hails from Santa Rosa, California, and just finished its trek to Pittsburgh on the back of a flat bed.
Millie’s retail operations manager Melissa Horst says that the van is already fully operational, and only needs a little work and a fresh coat of paint (which will be in Millie’s standard pastel color theme) to be ready to get on the road.
“We hope to have the van up and running as quickly as we can,” Horst says. “Definitely by the end of the year.”
The van will serve Millie’s ice cream scoops and cones, and will be available for special occasions and catering events. While the van won’t be on the road every day, they will regularly have the van out on an ice cream route when the weather is permitting.
