The craft beer scene in Pittsburgh just got a little bit bigger.
The highly-anticipated Mindful Brewing Company opens today in Castle Shannon. The brewery will feature a bar, restaurant, and bottle shop with a deep selection of bottles, including lots of local brews.
In a piece for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, co-owner Nick Jones tells Bob Batz Jr. that the brewery will pour beers from more than 50 taps, and has plans to make and serve 20 of their own beers.
From the Post-Gazette:
Other taps will pour eight wines and five mixed drinks. From adjacent coolers and shelves, Mindful also will sell not only some 1,000 different bottles and cans of beer, but also bottles of wine and Pennsylvania spirits to go.
For food, the menu highlights local products transformed into burgers and other sandwiches, pizzas, salads, soups and snacks such as wings, as well as fried chicken made with chicken from Gerber Poultry in Northeastern Ohio. Choose from buttermilk fried, Nashville hot and chicken and waffles. And there’s a kids’ menu.
The burger options include a few unique choices, like a Salted Caramel Apple Burger with sweet caramelized apples, sea salt and sharp cheddar, and a burger that’s topped with truffle Parmesan fries, Gruyere, avocado, caramelized onions and Dijon mustard.
Mindful Brewing Company is open from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and 11:00 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
