Pittsburgh restaurants and food businesses are really stepping up their game to make this (socially-distant) Mother’s Day extra-special. From baked goods to brunch kits, here are just a few ideas to show Mom that you care.
Meals To Go
DiAnoia’s Eatery: The Strip District restaurant is offering a special 6-course Mother’s Day menu to go, which is now available to pre-order. Orders will be available for pickup on Saturday, May 9, and will come with instructions on how to reheat. The menu includes Asparagus, Fennel & Arugula Spring Salad, 5-Cheese Lasagna, Saffron & Spring Pea Risotto, Braised Veal, Rosemary Focaccia Bread and assorted Italian cookies. The dinner is $38 per person and can be ordered here.
The Vandal: Pre-order your Mother’s Day brunch now from The Vandal, which will be available for pickup on Sunday, May 10. Brunch is $24 per person, and includes your choice of pastry (like lemon cake or cinnamon rolls), an entree (Benedits or frittatas), and a beverage). All in Good Taste Productions: Chef Bob Sendall has crafted brunch, lunch and dinner menus for Mother’s Day that each feed four to eight people. Delivery and pickup is available, and the menus can be found online.
Acorn: Acorn in Shadyside in offering Mother’s Day Bagel Boxes. There are four options available, and each box includes a bouquet of flowers, one dozen or a half dozen bagels, one dozen of half dozen Beignets, lox, whipped cream cheese, bagel fixings, egg salad, and Mimosa Kit options are also available. Alta Via: big Burrito Restaurant Group’s Alta Via and Casbah are both offering take-home brunch options, including traditional Mother’s Day Brunch packages with quiche, sticky buns, potatoes, greens and croissants, and a Smoked Salmon Tray, with Pigeon Bagels bagels, cream cheese, capers, eggs and vegetables. Brunch orders must be placed by phone (Alta Via at 412-408-3816 or Casbah at 412-661-5656 before noon on Saturday, May 9 for a Sunday pickup.
Cioppino Restaurant: Orders are now open for ready-to-heat meal kits for Mother’s Day, with options that include Filet Mignon, Meatloaf, Smoked Salmon or Whole Roasted Chicken. The menu can be found here, and orders can be placed by calling 412-281-6593 by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8.
Valliant’s Diner: Valliant’s Diner is offering a Mother’s Day brunch for four, with sweet or savory options, including pancakes, French Toast and omelets. Prices start at $35 for the package, and orders can be placed at 412-364-9577.
Revival on Lincoln: The Mother’s Day Takeout Menu at Revival on Lincoln is $31 per person, and includes Tomato Crab Bisque, Chicken Crepes and Strawberry Shortcake. Orders can be placed online, and must be made by noon on May 7.
Edible Gifts
Lola’s Eatery: Lola’s Eatery is sharing three options for Mother’s Day Pastry Boxes, filled with a variety of sweet things, like Mini Chocolate Cake, Cannoli, Chocolate Strawberries, and Mini Doughnuts. Each box is $60, and orders must be placed by May 8 by emailing [email protected].
Prantl’s Bakery: While all Prantl’s locations are currently closed, the bakery is opening up for special Mother’s Day orders. Options include their famous Burnt Almond Torte, Burnt Almond Chocolate Torte, and Carrot Cake. Order online.
Mon Aimee Chocolat: Call Mon Aimee Chocolat at 412-395-0022 or email [email protected] to place a custom order for a Mother’s Day gift basket. Choose from any of their dozens of small-batch chocolates, for a super-sweet, one-of-a-kind gift.
Mediterra Cafe: Gorgeous painted buttercream cakes are on the menu at Mediterra Cafe for Mother’s Day. Call them at 412-740-7064 to order.
Independent Brewing Company: From Friday, May 8 to Sunday, May 10, the Independent Brewing Company and Alternate Histories are presenting a Crafts and Drafts Mother’s Day Pop-Up online. They’ll have gifts and Mother’s Day cards from local makers available on its website, in addition to beer, wine and food to go. The Independent is also accepting orders for Mother’s Day cakes (available in Chocolate Genoise, Vanilla Genoise and Lemon Genoise), and Linzer Tarts to go. Order here.
Threadbare Cider: The North Side’s Threadbare Cider is introducing a ‘Mother’s Day Bundle’ of cider, which includes one bottle each of Bouquet de Rosé, Hey Sweetie and Farmhouse Ciders, a $10 Threadbare Cider gift card, and a blank Threadbare-branded note card in a gift box for $45.
