
Filmmaker David Bernabo’s new documentary is giving audiences a behind-the-scenes look at everything that makes Pittsburgh such an amazing food town.
Food Systems, Chapter 1: A Night Out is the first documentary in a three-film series that focuses on Pittsburgh’s food ecosystem. Bernabo and his crew spoke with dozens of Pittsburgh chefs, farmers, restaurateurs and writers (think Kevin Sousa, Bill Fuller and Hal B. Klein) to tell the story of how Pittsburgh has emerged as a foodie town, tracking the history of the emerging restaurant scene in the 1970s to the award-winning chefs and restaurants that dot our neighborhoods today.
Through stories and interviews, Bernabo weaves a tale that celebrates everything we love about this city, and also takes a look at what it takes to make it in the industry – from opening and running a restaurant, to sexism in the kitchen.
Food Systems will be shown at three upcoming screenings:
Wednesday, September 23: Row House Theater, 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $12.
Sunday, September 27: Row House Theater, 12:00 p.m. Tickets are $8.
Thursday, October 1: Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse, 7:00 p.m. Free to the public.
