Food Guy Adventures, a Pittsburgh food tour company, has launched the city’s first sustainable food tours – and you’ll have a chance to go on one this Saturday.

Food Guy Adventures is known for their quirky food tours around the city.  The tours take guests through neighborhoods like Lawrenceville and the Strip, sharing hidden food gems while explaining their history and connection to the neighborhood.

In an effort to promote food sustainability in Pittsburgh, Food Guy Adventures, in collaboration with Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant, will be leading a series of sustainability-focused food tours around Pittsburgh this summer.

These tours will investigate the sustainable practices of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Nine on Nine, and Six Penn Kitchen. The David L. Lawrence Convention Center has received a Platinum Plate designation for its sustainability efforts from Sustainable Pittsburgh, and both Nine on Nine and Six Penn are Gold Plate restaurants.

Sustainable Pittsburgh is a 17-year-old organization that works create economic and social equality and prosperity, as well as working to ensure environmental quality, especially through finding sustainable solutions for communities and businesses.

Sustainable Pittsburgh Restaurant, a subsidiary of Sustainable Pittsburgh, works to recognize local restaurants for their practices that benefit the environment, economy, and society. Restaurants are honored with five “plates,” ranging from a “Starter Plate” to a “Platinum Plate” (the highest recognition).

The next tour will take place on Saturday, July 15. An additional tour is also scheduled for Saturday, August 12. Tickets are $85 per person and include the tour, as well as six to eight appetizer bites and cocktail sips. Tickets can be purchased online.
