If you’ve driven drown 40th Street in the past year, chances are you’ve noticed some construction happening in the former Washington Education Center trade school (the large brick building next to the Wendy’s).
This work is part of the brand-new TRYP Hotel Pittsburgh, slated to open in the space in late winter/ early Spring 2019.
TRYP Hotels are a boutique hotel venture by Wyndham. The TRYP brand has completely unique hotels in cities around the world, including Berlin, Yangon, Brisbane, Bogotá, Miami, and many more… and now they are coming to Pittsburgh!
In addition to providing Lawrenceville with a trendy new hotel, this adaptive reuse project includes two new restaurants and a rooftop bar.
Chef Mike Rado, formerly of Butcher on Butler Rado, has been named the Executive Chef for the two restaurant concepts, named Brick Shop and Over Eden. TRYP Hotel has partnered with Kate Romane Productions to create the food and beverage program at both concepts.
At Brick Shop, Guests can expect a contemporary American menu with a a robust wine program. Over Eden will offer fresh, shareable dishes from a variety of cuisines. Both restaurants will have regularly changing menus rooted in seasonality of local ingredients.
In more exciting news, Over Eden is located on the top floor of the building, and will offer a laid back rooftop hangout with a completely unique view of the city.
