It’s official: With the opening of Duncan Street Sandwich Shop, Millvale residents now have a brand new spot to get awesome sandwiches.
Duncan Street Sandwich Shop opened on Tuesday on North Avenue in Millvale, offering creative grab-and-go sandwiches, salads, sides and desserts. As we reported last month, the menu will feature four or five rotating sandwiches with one vegan option, and the shop will also have a refrigerator where customers can pick up homemade sauces and soups.
The opening menu sandwiches include:
- Smoked Chicken: herb aioli, onion jam, cucumber, snap pea, basil
- “Everything” Pork: roasted pork, “everything” seasoning, pickled red onion jam, boursin, cucumber, fried onion
- Rosemary/Brown Sugar/Black Pepper Turkey: roasted turkey, tomato honey, goat cheese, sweet onion, romaine
- Roasted Mushroom: Montreal seasoning, roasted garlic, caramelized onion, mushroom jus
- Frittata Sandwich: Changes daily
Sandwich prices range from $8 to $10.
The current list of salads on the menu includes a Smoked Grape Salad with mixed greens, membrillo vinaigrette, pickled mustard seed and smoked grapes ($10), and the “Not a Cobb” Salad, with mixed greens, chorizo vinaigrette, pickled egg, shaved manchego, roasted shishito peppers, and almonds ($10).
Side dishes are $3 each, and include Snap Peas (with red onion, radish, basil, mint and chopped peanut), Charred Pepper Slaw, and White Beans, served with red onion, lemon and dill. The shop also makes their own homemade potato chips. Right now, they’re serving Garlic and Black Pepper potato chips – and for $1 extra, you can order them “Thanksgiving Style,” where they’ll drizzle them with glaze made from their turkey drippings, and top them with scallions.
The shop will also offer a rotating list of house sodas and aqua fresca. Currently, the list of options includes Lavender/Lime, Ginger/Mint, Tarragon/Citrus, Watermelon/Green Apple and Strawberry/Citrus.
While there is limited counter space inside, the shop boasts a large, dog-friendly patio behind the building where guests are invited to enjoy their meals.
Duncan Street Sandwich Shop is the first brick-and-mortar from Kendyl Ryan and Dan Rodriguez, who started Duncan St. Dinners in 2015, serving five-course, fine-dining meals out of their home in Lawrenceville.
The shop will be open Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
To-go orders can be made by calling Duncan Street Sandwich Shop at 412-252-2940.
