If you’ve been lamenting the loss of Avenue B since the Shadyside restaurant closed in March, prepare yourself for some really good news: Chef/owner Chris Bonfili has just announced plans to open a new restaurant on the South Side.
Bonfire Food & Drink will open in mid-to-late fall, and will feature a casual menu with a “craft beer-focused bar,” according to a release.
The two-story restaurant concept will feature a restaurant with a wood-fired oven and chef’s bar on the first level, with a menu that will include hearty, elevated comfort food dishes like Crispy Brussels Sprouts with smoked grapes, hazelnuts and brown butter aioli, Mac & Cheese made with Boursin, smoked onion and mushrooms, and a Cheesesteak Flatbread with roasted lamb shoulder, peppers and onions, and a five-year cheddar.
On the second floor of the restaurant, you’ll find a wine and craft cocktail bar with a small lounge area, and a separate menu that features seasonal, modern American cuisine, reminiscent of the menu at Avenue B.

Bonfire Food & Drink will be located at 2100 East Carson Street, in the former location of Mullen’s on Carson. Current plans for the restaurant include the first floor opening mid-fall, with the second floor opening later in the season. Bonfire Food & Drink will be open for lunch, dinner, brunch, and late-night.
In addition to Bonfire Food & Drink, Bonfili also owns and operates B Gourmet in Sewickley.

This is great news, congratulations!! Can’t wait to try it out.

Bonne Chance, Bonfili! One word of advice–SAGE THAT PLACE and surround it with salt! (Exorcism may be called for as well.) xo, Melly
