This is no April Fools joke – starting on April 1, Pittsburgh pastry favorite Piebird will being a new monthly pie subscription services, serving members with a fresh pie on the first Friday of every month.
The pie catering company known for doing private events and pop-ups around the city, but the ‘Pie Club’ is its way of making these delicious treats more available to Pittsburghers on a regular basis. Each month will feature one unique pie flavor, like Mexican Hot Chocolate, Strawberry Rhubarb, S’mores, Maple Custard, and Coconut Cream,
The session comes in three forms:
- $75, three-month subscription, offered every quarter
- $140, six-month subscription
- $240, 12-month subscription, which, with cost savings, equates to two free pies
Piebird pastry chef Annalee DePaoli says the service will offer a mix of her classic flavors, while also giving her the opportunity to roll out new flavors for the club.
The pie calendar includes:
April – Coconut Cream
May – Mexican Hot Chocolate
June – Strawberry Rhubarb
July – Peach
August – Cherry
September – S’mores
October – Salted Caramel Apple
November – Sweet Potato
December – Raspberry Cranberry Streusel
January – Lemon Meringue
February – Maple Custard
March – Chocolate Cream
Pie pickup will be the first Friday of every month at the Piebird kitchen on Butler Street in Lawrenceville. Typical pickup time will be after work, but a private pickup time can be arranged the following day by emailing the shop.
In addition to the pie club, Piebird offers private orders of slab pies, mini pies, and traditional 10” pies for events, holidays, or just because you want some pie! Slab pies are the sheet-cake variation of pie, and are a great way to share the dessert with a large group of people.
