Pittsburgh Now Has a Cupcake Delivery Service

Pittsburgh is in store for a sweet surprise. Nizhoni Bakery, a local made-to-order bakery based in Carnegie, is launching a surprise cupcake delivery service.

In the same vein as surprising someone flowers for a birthday or special event, Danielle Skiles, owner and baker at Nizhoni, wants friends and family to be able send their loved ones something more personal – and delicious!

Skiles is a lifelong baker, and has always dreamed of opening her own shop.  The idea of expanding into delivery services was a natural progression.

“The idea evolved from my current set up, because I don’t have a storefront, and a cross between places like Insomnia Cookies,” she says. ” I was visiting a friend at her school in Connecticut, and we ordered cookies, and I just thought, ‘Why don’t we have this in Pittsburgh?’ Especially with how millennial-centered our city is, and being a huge college town, it made sense.”

Because Skiles, a Pittsburgh native, is currently running the bakery as a one man show, she is holding off on cookie delivery for the time being.  However, her surprise cupcake delivery is ready to go.

Patrons can choose from gourmet cupcake flavors like Salted Caramel Macchiato (a caramel-coffee cupcake injected with caramel and topped with salted caramel-coffee icing), Pittsburgh Mud Puddle (a chocolate cupcake filled with peanut butter cream and topped with chocolate peanut butter icing) and Toasted Almond (an Almond cupcake filled with vanilla creme, topped with almond icing and freshly toasted almond slivers) – which is Skiles’ personal favorite.

The service is available for a minimum order of one dozen of the same cupcakes. Mixed cupcakes, premium cupcakes, and adult cupcakes are can be accommodated for an additional fee. Orders must be place 48 hours in advance, and deliveries cost is included for the first 10 miles, and then customers are charged an additional $.52 per mile after that.

Nizhoni Bakery also produces custom cut-out sugar cookies, cookie trays, cupcake poppers, wedding cakes, and even more sweet treats.

A full menu of all of Nizhoni Bakery’s treats, and pricing for her services, can be found online.

This is pretty awesome. Who doesn’t love cupcakes? And who wouldn’t want to have them delivered right to your door? Great idea!
