Sometimes, a simple stalk of celery isn’t going to cut it.

Bloody Mary’s have always been a popular morning beverage, but in recent years, the trend of designing your own bloody – loaded up with tons of toppings – has been catching on at more and more bars.

From pickles to shrimp (and sometimes even hamburger sliders!), these Bloody creations are basically a meal in itself… and we’re absolutely here for it. Below we’ve rounded up our favorite make-your-own Bloody Mary bars in Pittsburgh. Cheers!

Get your Bloody Mary fix at weekend brunch at The Urban Tap! Your first bloody is just $8. The restaurant also recently started offering mimosa flights… you know, if you’re into that sort of thing.  😉

Calling all Bloody fans! Don’t miss the over-the-top bloody bar at Bier’s Pub on the Northside. Guests can choose from several types of vodka, as well as toppings like: Garlic, Ginger, Horseradish, Jalapeño, Peppercorn, Roasted Poblano Pepper, Rosemary, Smoked Morita Pepper, and more!

Bloody Mary fans swear by the make-your-own bar at Hough’s in Greenfield. While you’re there, be sure to check out their amazing beer selection!

At their weekend brunch service, the Pittsburgh-classic “The Yard” offers a full Bloody Mary bar and “Basically Bottomless Mimosas” (um, yes please). Pro tip: The Shadyside location offers a brunch service on Friday (as well as Saturday and Sunday).

Stop by The Abbey’s brunch to enjoy their build your own bloody bar! And while you’re enjoying your drink, be sure to try other items on their menu, like Irish Porridge, French Toast with Spiced Apple Syrup, Buttermilk Pancakes, Vegan Pancakes, Everything Bagels, Banana Bread and more!

Bloody Mary fans need to visit Coughlin’s Law on Mount Washington. The restaurant offers a “Create Your Own Bloody Mary” sheet, where customers can customize their own bloody.    The restaurant also offers Bloody Mary flights.

The legendary Bloody Mary bar at Meat & Potatoes has everything you need to compose the perfect drink! Choose from toppings like hot sauce, pickles, onions, asparagus, celery, and much more. The drink is great way to kick off the restaurant’s phenomenal brunch menu. Be sure to make a reservation, as the restaurant is very busy on the weekends.

Another popular Bloody Mary bar is Muddy Waters in East Liberty. During their brunch service, the restaurant’s center bar is fill with various topping options, like shrimp, onions, garlic, celery and much more! Muddy Waters also offers a Saturday happy hour from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M., with $1 featured east coast oyster, $2 featured west coast oyster, $8 boiler makers with clyde mays whiskey, $6 don wayne cocktails, $10 off bottles of bubbles, and $20 off bottles of champagne.

The Commoner is a very popular Downtown brunch spot, and they are known for having a killer Bloody Mary bar. After sipping on your bloody, enjoy brunch dishes like Crab Benedict, Pierogi and Eggs, Smoked Salmon Blini, Brunch Burger, and Chicken & Waffles.

Running in the Pittsburgh Marathon on May 5th this year? Each year, Wigle Whiskey hosts a free Marathon After Party at their Barrelhouse on the Northside. All runners with a bib get a free Bloody Mary. There will also be live music and food.

Wigle also hosts events throughout the year with a Bloody Mary bar (like last year’s “Sunday Funday” events in August). Keep an eye on their website for more Bloody events.
