The wait is (almost) over.
Shake Shack has announced that it will open its first Pittsburgh location in The Terminal in the Strip District on Monday, May 20.
The super-popular New York City-based eatery announced plans to expand to Pittsburgh last year, bringing their classic burgers, crinkle-cut fries, and hand-spun milkshakes to the area. Additionally, the Terminal location will offer Shack Wine and beer offerings, including Yuengling, and ‘Shackmeister Ale.’
The Terminal location will feature a dining area, along with a walk-up window experience for takeout.
To celebrate opening day, the Terminal location will be donating $1 for every sandwich sold there on May 20 to 412 Food Rescue. The first wave of guests to the location will also receive limited-edition custom totes, sticks, and postcards in collaboration with local gift shop Love, Pittsburgh.
On May 20, a 10:00 a.m. ribbon cutting will take place.
The original Shake Shack opened in New York City’s Madison Square Park in 2004 by restauranteur Danny Meyer, and since then, has expanded to more than 430 locations across the world. Known for their made-to-order beef burgers, crispy chicken sandwiches, milkshakes and lemonades, the restaurant chain already has a dozen locations across the state, mostly concentrated around the Philadelphia area.
Shake Shack at The Terminal will be open 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10:00 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.
