Just in time for Picklesburgh, a brand new pickle beer is launching in Pittsburgh – for a limited time, at least.
East End Brewing Company and Primanti Bros. have teamed up to create Almost Famous, a pickle-flavored Gose Ale.
The new beer will launch on Thursday, July 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Primanti Bros.’ Market Square location. After that, the Almost Famous Pickle Beer will be available for a limited time (while supplies last) at Primanti Bros. in the Strip District, Market Square, South Side, Oakland, Garfield, Robinson and the Waterfront, and you can also get it at East End Brewing’s location in Larimer.
East End Brewing founder Scott Smith and his craft beer-brewing team created the unique brew with 630 pounds of fresh cucumbers, adding coriander, salt, and fresh dill for a light-tasting brew.
We were able to try an advanced taste last week, and found it delightful – it was fresh-tasting, and had a pleasing hint of pickle. Definitely a drinkable brew.
In a release, Smith says that he was excited to collaborate with Primanti Bros., since the sandwich chain has been a loyal East End Brewing customer for years.
“We settled on a pickle beer because aside from the obvious place of prominence the pickle holds in Pittsburgh’s culinary history, can you think of anything that goes better with a Primanti Bros. Almost Famous sandwich?” Smith says.
