Here at Good Food Pittsburgh, we’re huge fans of the Pittsburgh Public Market. It’s the physical embodiment of what we’re striving to create at this site – a sense of community, a way to shop for locally-made products and support small businesses, and more than anything else, a celebration of good food. And, we started to love them even more once they agreed to sponsor our Pittsburgh Food Swap, and generously offered use of their public space.
Now, PPM needs our help. They’ve launched a Kickstarter to help finance The Market Kitchen, a space for local food businesses to grow their companies in a regulated kitchen, without the massive overhead costs that can stop a launch before it starts.
Their dream is to create a shared use, fully-licensed commercial kitchen in the market, giving local chefs and food entrepreneurs that chance to make their culinary dreams a reality. And, they’re close: PPM has already secured about $600,000 in funding, but they need one last bit of support to finance the finishing touches on the space.
PPM’s Kickstarter campaign is asking for $10,000 – right now, they have a little less than half that amount – and the gifts that backers will receive are pretty great. A $20 backing will get you a VIP invitation to the official Market Kitchen Grand Opening party. For $100, you’ll receive two tickets to a family-style brunch event, featuring market chefs. And for you big spenders, a $500 backing will get you a private cooking class for you, and twelve of your closest friends.
You only have about a week to make your pledges. If you want to support The Market Kitchen, visit their Kickstarter page here.
