It’s the holiday season, and that means it’s time to get festivus with the rest of us – and enjoy some local, seasonal libations.

We’ve been sipping our way through Pittsburgh to find the best cocktails to warm you up on cold winter nights (and to help get you through the holidays).

Here’s our picks for the 7 best winter drinks in the ‘Burgh… and wouldn’t you know, there’s one for every night of the week.

Grit & Grace – This One Could Use a Few More Ingredients

The name says it all. This ingredients-heavy cocktail combines rye whiskey, amaretto, grapefruit, falernum, gold rum, cherry Herring, mint, Peychaud’s bitters and bubbles – and is a tangy seasonal treat with a hint of sweetness.

BRGR – Paris 75

This is one refreshing cocktail. Made with Absolut pear, gin, lemon, sugar, and sparkling wine, it reminds us on the month of January – filled with excitement, new possibilities, and fun.

Monterey Bay Fish Grotto – Winter Cocktail Menu

We’re going to have to give it up to Monterey Bay Fish Grotto – they don’t have just one winter cocktail, they have half a dozen, and they’re all worth a try. Our picks include their Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate, Ginger Snap with cinnamon, Bacon Butter Rum, Tiramisu martini and Peppermint Chai.

Verde – Brushfire

Made with el Jimador Tequila, hibiscus oleo, lime, grapefruit, and whiskey barrel bitters, Verde’s Brushfire cocktail is a spicy little drink to warm up ever the coldest night.

Tender Bar + Kitchen – 43rd Street

This house-crafted cocktial is made with Elijah Craig 12-year bourbon, Art in the Age ginger snap, Cardamaro, cinnamon, and Burlesque bitters. It smells like sweet cinnamon buns, but has quite a kick.

Maggie’s Farm Rum – Egg Nog

At their Strip District distillery, Maggie’s Farm Rum is serving up made-from-scratch egg nog throughout the month of December. It’s made with their own rum, and topped with nutmeg and cinnamon. Consider it Christmas in a glass.

Acacia – Hot Toddy

Acacia has taken this classic cold-weather drink, and given it a twist with Maker’s Mark Cask Strength, an uncut, unfiltered, and straight-from-the-barrel Kentucky bourbon. Trust us- one sip of this will definitely cure what ails you.
