Fresh peaches from Ft. Valley, Georgia, are making their way up to Pittsburgh not once but TWICE this summer!
The Peach Truck, a traveling food truck that delivers fresh, Georgia peaches around the country, is rolling through Pittsburgh this June and July.
On their website, The Peach Truck states that their “peaches surpass grocery store peaches because they are just hours off the tree when you eat them. Additionally, they’re picked when they’re ripe, and not a second before. Grocery store peaches can spend many, many days in distribution before making it to their final location, which is why their flavor and texture is so poor.”
The idea for the business began in the summer of 2010 when Stephen Rose, a Georgia native, moved to Nashville and was dismayed to find that no one was selling fresh, flavorful peaches like the kind he’d grown up with in Georgia.
In the summer of 2012, Stephen and his wife Jessica bought a ‘64 Jeep truck and started selling fresh Georgia peaches from the cab. Within five weeks, the city had consumed over 10 tons of brown-bagged peaches.
“Georgia is where you will always get the best peach,” the website continues.
Fast forward to today, and the truck(s) now service corners across Nashville, and tour the country delivering fresh Georgia peaches.
