In sad, yet expected news, the Pittsburgh Piergoi Festival 2020 has announced today that it is officially cancelling this years festivities because of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
In a release, festival organizers announced that they will be providing full refunds for all tickets that have been purchased for the 2020 event, which typically is held every September in Kennywood Park.
Showclix, the festival’s ticketing partner, will be issuing refunds within five to seven business days.
“The health and safety of our guests, our vendors, and our staff are always our top priority,” says festival organizers. “There was just no way to safely host the festival at this time.”
Organizers say that they plan to have the festival resume in 2021 at Kennywood.
Last year, the Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival welcome between 5,000 and 6,000 attendees, who sampled pierogies from more than 40 restaurants and chefs, and enjoyed a pierogi marketplace, entertainment, and family-friendly activities.
The Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival will be selling 2020 tee-shirts and other merchandise to benefit the Pittsburgh Emergency Medicine Foundation. More information and updates can be found on the festival’s social media.
