Good news – it’s almost patio season in Pittsburgh. Even better news? A favorite Pittsburgh restaurant will soon be offering al fresco dining!
The Vandal, a trendy eatery in Lawrenceville, has announced they are in the process of transforming their backyard into a patio and garden.
“It’s been a super long time in the making,” says owner Joey Hilty. “We have been wanting to do this and this year we’re finally able to put in a little back garden.”
The space will be both a patio for guests, as well as a garden for the restaurant. The patio will be two-tired with casual seating for guests on the first level. Slightly above the dining area will be the garden.
“We want it to feel less like a dining room, and more like a garden,” says Hilty. “I want guests to be immersed in the experience.”
The kitchen, which is already known for sourcing local and fresh ingredients, will be able grow menu items in their own backyard. Guests can imagine a wooden deck, benches, and perhaps four or five tables. The restaurant will increase their seating by around 20 percent.
Eager diners can expect to wait a few months before the patio opens, just in time for a warmer weather.
Once open, the space will be used for dining, as well as a spot to enjoy a drink while waiting for a table. In fact, this is not the only exciting piece of news coming from The Vandal. The longtime BYOB staple has also announced that they are in the process of obtaining a liquor license, meaning that soon enough, we’ll be able to enjoy a thoughtfully-curated cocktail from The Vandal, both inside and outside of the restaurant.
