From cooking to gardening and spring cleaning, the East End Food Co-op has a number of free community events planned throughout the spring and summer.
- Cookbook Club: Wednesday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m.
The inaugural meeting of the EEFC Cookbook Club kicks off in the EEFC Café with a discussion about favorite cookbooks, and sharing homemade snacks, potluck style. The event is free, but members are encouraged to bring a dish to share.
- Pollinator Gardening: Wednesday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m.
Penn State Master Gardeners will be on hand at the Carnegie Library of Homewood to discuss how to create a pollinator sanctuary in your garden, and walk home gardeners through the basics of building and maintaining a garden that promotes pollination.
- Growing Advice from a Local Farmer: Wednesday, May 13 at 6:30 p.m.
Chriss Brittenburg from Who Cooks For You Farm will be at the Carnegie Library of Homewood to offer tips and tricks about successfully planting home garden, and dealing with pests, soil fertility and season extension.
- Understanding USDA Dietary Guidelines: Wednesday, May 20 at 6:30 p.m.
Carnegie Mellon University’s Paula Marti will be discussing what the USDA Dietary Guidelines can tell you about environmental health and nutrition, and how consumers can use those guidelines to promote personal and environmental health.
- DIY Green Cleaning Products: Wednesday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m.
Naturally Clean’s Rachel Breit will be teaching a class at Carnegie Library of Homewood to help attendees create environmentally-friendly household cleaners out of everyday kitchen supplies.
