Say goodbye to 2019 in style! From raging parties to low-key dinner events, here’s are some of the best ways to ring in the new year in Pittsburgh.
Restaurants Serving Special Dinners
Spork is celebrating New Year’s Eve with a five course menu (plus dessert) for $100 per person. Look for choices like Duck Confit with potato and leek tarts, Bison filet with lobster arancini, and Mushroom Agnolotti. You can see the full menu online.
Braddock’s Superior Motors will have their regular menu available, plus a few extra-special holiday options, including Lobster Thermidor, wood-fired Prime Rib with Yorkshire Pudding (for two), Veal Marsala (for two), and a caviar flight with Champagne pairing.
The Independent Brewing Company
The Independent’s executive chef Jamilka Borges and pastry chef Dianne DeStefano have put together an excellent prix-fixe menu for New Year’s Eve, featuring options like Sunchoke Soup with caviar, Scallops with anchovy and blood orange, and a Sesame Tahini Ho-Ho cake. The best new restaurant of 2019 (according to us, at least), will offer a four-course tasting menu on New Year’s Eve, with options like Branzino with calamarata Puttanesca, Braised Short Ribs whit saffron arancini, and Grilled Baby Eggplant. Scratch Food & Beverage
Scratch Food & Beverage will feature a $65 prix fixe menu on New Year’s Eve, with options like Salt Cod & Potato Chowder, Chicken Liver Pate, and Vegetarian Pho. The full menu is available online.
Not only will the Commoner have their regular menu available, but they are also offering a $55 four-course prix-fixe option, with Savory Beignets, Roasted Beet Tartare, Cabbage Rolls and more.
Enjoy dinner with a view on Over Eden’s all-season rooftop! There are three seatings available (5:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.), and the restaurant will be serving their regular menu, with dishes like Beet Babba, Merguez Sausage, Pastrami Short Rib, and Coconut Rose Malabi.
Head to the Strip District for three special dishes, in addition to Kaya’s regular menu: Good Luck Gumbo, a 24-oz. bone-in Strip Steak for two, and Key Lime Cheesecake. Plus, it’s fried chicken night!
In addition to Whitfield’s regular menu, executive chef Bethany Zozula will also be offering dishes like Hackleback Caviar with potato chips and crème fraîche, Oysters Rockafeller with Pernod, watercress, cream and breadcrumbs, Truffle Mac & Cheese with Alba truffles, and a Tenderloin with whole shrimp, gnocchi and melted leeks. Zozula is also hosting a Lucky Pig Dinner on New Year’s Day, featuring selected pork dishes.
Brick Shop in Lawrenceville will have a NYE Prix Fixe Dinner for $75 per person, featuring Eastern European traditional dishes, like Black Bread with cultured butter and currant jam, Kreplach Soup, Golden Beet Salad, Pelmeni, Filet Mignon, and Russian Honey Cake.
Beginning at 6:00 p.m., seats are available for Park Bruges’ New Year’s Eve Prix Fixe Dinner. Seats are $80 per person, and include an appetizer buffet, and a three-course dinner with beer pairings.
New Year’s Eve at Con Alma will feature live jazz music all night long, and a $125 prix fixe menu, with dishes like guacamole with sea urchin and plantain chips, coconut conch chowder, Amarillo Ceviche, lobster curry and more.
Find a $75 prix fixe menu at Casbah, with dishes like Chilean Sea Bass in preserved lemon butter, Lamb Tenderloin with juniper mustard, and a Myyer Lemon Curd Tart with Swiss meringue. The full menu is available online.
Eleven’s Chef’s Tasting Menu for New Year’s Eve offers options like PRime Ribeye with sherried chestnut mushrooms, Tuna Tartare with kumquat and pomegranate, and Long Island Duck, with bleu cheese potato croquette. They also have a Vegetarian Tasting Menu, too. Tickets are $85 per person, with a $50 optional wine pairing.
Hidden Harbor’s annual New Year’s Eve party (from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.) will feature over-the-top takes on tiki drinks, along with a limited food menu. No cover, no tickets – but if you want reservations, you can email [email protected] to get on the list.
City Works Eatery
Ring in 2020 downtown at City Works, with their ‘Go Out In Style’ dinner package. Your $100 ticket includes a four-hour premium open bar and passed appetizers (like smoked wings, cheese curds, and mini burgers) all night. City Works is also hosting a next-morning recovery brunch. Revel + Roost
Tickets ($50 online, $75 at the door and $125 VIP) include two hours of open bar and food from 10:00 p.m. to midnight, two floors of live DJ music, party favors, and giveaways. Revel is also offering a three-course dinner, with seatings from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. for $75 per person.
Federal Galley’s annual Brew Year’s Eve event features unlimited pours from their 20+ craft beer list for $80 per person. You’ll also receive a Federal Galley glass, access to a brunch buffet at 11:30 p.m., and live music from DJ Funk Masta Fletch. Tickets are available online.
The Abbey on Butler Street
The Abbey on Butler Street is going all-in for New Year’s Eve, with an ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ party. Put on your favorite mask and join the fun with DJ music, dancing, a balloon drop and Champagne toast at midnight. Tickets are $15.
Mixtape is hosting a special NYE celebration. Tickets are $100, and include a generous open bar, guaranteed entry to the bar, a midnight Champagne toast, hors D’oeuvres catered by Azorean Cafe, desserts and party favors.
Muddy Waters Oyster Bar
Muddy Waters is hosting their annual New Years Eve Bubbles and Oyster Party. Tickets are $75 per person, and includes two complimentary glasses of sparkling wine, plus unlimited access to select East and West coast oysters. Seating starts at 10:00 p.m., and tickets are available online.
