White Truffle Weekend & Upcoming Food and Wine Classes at Notion

East Liberty’s Notion has some big plans for the rest of 2014.

They’ve been quietly hosting a series of wine and cooking classes for the last year, and they’ve just released a list of upcoming events that you’ve got to check out – including this weekend’s White Truffle extravaganza.

Notion’s chef Dave Racicot has got his hands on some truly fantastic white truffles, and is sharing the treat with guests this weekend. They’ll be offering three white truffle options today and tomorrow, including six-course and four-course white truffle tasting dinners, and truffle supplements for their regular menu. Racicot is also sharing his culinary knowledge this Fall with small, intimate classes that include an interactive cooking demonstration, allowing attendees to see how his fine-dining dishes evolve throughout the cooking process – and learn how to take elements of those techniques to use in their own kitchens.

After each demonstration, guests enjoy a four-course meal that incorporates ingredients and techniques from the lesson.

“More than anything, what I really want is for people to take away cooking techniques and procedures,” says Racicot. “Making dinner every night isn’t exactly daunting, but I think that it helps people if I can share a few recipes with them that I think are really great.”

The next cooking class at Notion will tackle the art of fish preparation on Tuesday, November 18. Racicot says the class will help both beginners and more advanced home cooks to learn how to demystify fresh fish, with lessons on identifying types of fish and seafood, cleaning, filleting, and cooking.
