There’s some exciting news coming out of Wigle Whiskey today.
They’re taking their hyper-local, community-focused business approach to a whole new level, with the introduction of a new series of experimental spirits collaborating with local craft breweries.
First up in the series is a Ginever that’s been aged in East End Brewing Company’s Gratitude Barleywine barrels. Wigle says that the aging process gives the Dutch-style gin a malty, oaky, complex finish.
To celebrate the release, both Wigle Whiskey and East End are throwing corresponding events.
On Friday, July 24, Wigle is hosting a release party at the barrelhouse (1055 Spring Garden Avenue), with Barleywine Barrel-Rested Ginever samples, gin cocktails, food truck fare from Burgh Bites, and live music.
Then, on Friday, July 31, East End is hosting their own release party at the brewery (147 Julius Street), with gin samples, 2014 Gratitude Barleywine samples, Ginever cocktails, and an appearance by the Brassero Grill food truck.
Tickets to the event are $17 each, or $30 for both.
Moving forward, Wigle says that they’ll be featuring work from local artists on upcoming Brewers Series labels.
