Wizard U Magical Party is Bringing Hogwarts to Pittsburgh

August 26, 2017 by Madeline Quigley Leave a Comment

If you’re still bummed about never receiving a letter from Hogwarts on your 11th birthday, don’t worry.  Wizard U, a traveling magic “school” is coming to Pittsburgh at the end of September.

Wizard U promises to give guests an “entertaining place to swish their wands, and slur their spells.”

School begins at 1:00 p.m., when students will choose their “wizard fraternity,” and then spend the afternoon participating in events like potions, wizard pong, costume contest, divination, flying club, and transformation… all while sipping on “buttery brews and enchanting cocktails.”

Entertainment will also include Wizard Rock, a genre of music inspired by the Harry Potter series.  Popular bands in the early 2000s included Harry and the Potters, and Remus Lupins, the Parselmouths, the the Moaning Myrtles, and more.

Since Wizard U started hosting these events, they have graduated over 25,000 alumni from 15 different states. After passing through Pittsburgh, Wizard U, will spread their magic to Cleveland, Tampa, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, and New Orleans.

At the end of each event, Wizard U. donates a portion of it’s proceeds to a local charity chosen by participants at the event.  Attendees will decide to donate the money towards an animal rights, literacy, human rights, or environmental action charity in Pittsburgh

Wizard U Pittsburgh will happen on Sunday, September 24 at Mr. Smalls Theatre in Millvale. The party will run until 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $18 and can be purchased online. Be sure to get your ticket before they magically disappear.
