I was born n raised in the Burgh n come home @ least once a yr..Does anyone know where I can get a chiffon cheesecake? Used 2 b a bakery on Butler St (I lived on MainSt) I visited many bakeries last time I was home n couldn’t find 1. And NO Cheesecake Factory doesn’t have it..I spent a fortune there n none of them were THE cheesecake..help!
Oh Mary Ann, Four in my family worked at Guentert’s bakery. I read many blogs, comments and requests for the taste we “true” Lawrenceville residents miss. Half rye bread, chocolate jimmie pound cake, lincoln logs for Presidents’ Day, I could go on and on. After the Guentert/Ferrell family sold to Baker family all was lost.
Believe me I am one of nine and have traveled to find the right chocolate chip cookie that would come close to what I remeber. And don’t get my family started on Lady locks (filling) or their brownies. I wish I knew if Mr. Ferrell kept the recipes or sold them with the bakery. Good luck.
I’m a little late, sorry, but you might try Bethel
Bakery. Their cheesecake was a very light cheesecake., not the usually dense type. This might be what you’re looking for. I’d call them to ask about their cheesecake.
