One of Pittsburgh’s most popular collaborations is back for another year!
East End Brewing Company and Primanti Bros. have announced that their Almost Famous Pickle Beer collaboration will be back for a limited time, beginning Wednesday, August 19 at Pittsburgh-area Primati Bros. locations, and East End Brewing.
The two businesses joined forces last year to create the pickle-craft Gose ale, which sold out in less than 48 hours after being released.
Last year, East End Brewing’s owner and founder Scott Smith said that he was excited to collaborate with Primanti Bros., since the sandwich chain has been a loyal East End Brewing customer for years.
“We settled on a pickle beer because aside from the obvious place of prominence the pickle holds in Pittsburgh’s culinary history, can you think of anything that goes better with a Primanti Bros. Almost Famous sandwich?” Smith said.
This year’s release is slightly different, with the addition of black peppercorn to the brew, in addition to standard beer ingredients like barley and hops, along with more than 600 pounds of fresh, local cucumbers, plus coriander, sea salt, and fresh dill, making it “technically a Cucumber Peppercorn Gose Ale,” at 4.1% abv.
“The fresh cukes really come through this year, and the new peppercorn addition definitely accentuates the savory notes on the beer’s finish,” says Smith.
The Almost Famous Pickle Beer will be available while supplies last at select Pittsburgh-area Primanti Bros. locations and at the East End Brewing Company’s on-line store, where orders for curbside pickup and Saturday home delivery can be placed
