Sad news from Merchant Oyster Company.
The Lawrenceville oyster house has announced that it will be closing its doors next month, with a ‘Last Shucking Good Time’ party on December 4.
Merchant Oyster Company first opened in 2017, as a spot for chef/owner Dennis Marron to serve seaside favorites, like oysters, mussels, clams, chowders, and (one of the city’s best) lobster rolls.
On social media, the Merchant team says that while the decision to close wasn’t easy, “we’re endlessly grateful for the memories, laughter, and love” shared over the last seven years.
Tickets to Merchant’s final event are $90, and include drink tickets, food, and live music. The restaurant has also launched a GoFundMe, asking for financial support for the restaurant staff, and to help with closing costs.
