Coffee & chill.
Those are the vibes at Lazydaze Cafe, the new “counterculture” shop and cafe coming to Lawrenceville this fall.
This is the first Pittsburgh outpost for the brand, which has a dozen locations across Texas, as well as a spot in Medina, Ohio.
“We’re excited to head over to Pittsburgh,” says Hans Enriquez, founder of Lazydaze.
The cafe, located on Butler street in Upper Lawrenceville, will have three parts: coffee shop, retail area, and full CBD dispensary.
CBD, which stands for Cannabidiol, is a derivative of cannabis that has become popular in news and culture recently with many claiming it aids conditions like pain and anxiety. The dispensary portion of Lazydaze Cafe will sell a wide range of CBD products.
“At our stores we currently sell drops, tinctures, edibles, creams, salves, pills, pet treats,” says Enriquez. “We do carry hemp herbs and flowers.”
And for the “cafe” portion of the business, Lazydaze will offer a full coffee bar with coffees, teas, and other beverages, all with the option to infuse them with CBD.
“We want it to be an Amsterdam-style cafe,” says Enriquez.
Lazydaze began as a chain of smoke shops over 10 years ago, but expanded into the coffee business when they opened their first Austin franchise five years ago. At the time they had recently discovered Keurig K-cups infused with CBD, and started offering them in the store to gauge interest.
“Within a few months we became a full blown coffee shop,” explains Enriquez.
Lazydaze makes their own coffee blends with names like “Wake and Bake Blend,” “420 Blend,” “Lazydaze Blend,” and Haze-o Nut Blend.” The coffees themselves are not infused with CBD. The drinks are infused in-shop with a water-soluble CBD oil, or clarified CBD butter.
There will also be a smoke shop located within the space.
Overall, the shops aims to provide a welcoming and informative space for customers.
“We think that the whole coffee and cannabis culture is a social experience,” says Enriquez.
The cafe is currently under construction and aims to be open within the upcoming months.
