Lines were around the block in East Liberty as the much-anticipated Tous les Jours opened its doors on Thursday, March 7.
The South Korean bakery franchise has a massive global audience, and its first Pittsburgh location has been in the works since last year.
First opening in South Korea in 1997, the franchise now has more than 1,600 locations worldwide, serving Asian-French fresh-baked pastries, breads, cakes, and assorted drinks.
Neighbors have been looking forward to the opening since the location was first announced. The bakery is located in the Eastside Bond Building, across the street from Target.
“We have been overwhelmed by the positive response from the community,” says owner Adam Lin. “It is very heartwarming to see so many enjoy our baked goods and supporting us.”
The menu features a variety of items like egg tarts, croissants, sweet rice doughnuts, guava Danishes, buttercream breads, and cloud cakes. They also have some savory options, like a sweet frank roll.
“The biggest things customers can look forward to is our variety of baked goods, which are freshly baked everyday,” he says.
On the drinks menu, you’ll find fresh-brewed coffee and lattes, and inventive drinks (including options like a honey lavender macchiato), plus refreshing fruit teas, and fruit smoothies.
Guests grab a tray and can choose the pastries they want (including individual cake slices, and whole cakes), as they make their way to the coffee bar. There’s also café seating available.
Tous les Jours is just the latest of a number of Asian bakeries and restaurants set to open their doors in the coming months, following the opening of Novo Asian Food Hall in The Terminal in the Strip District.
Tous les Jours is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Tous les Jours (6226 Penn Avenue).
