Sad news for fans of Schorr Family Bakery.
The family-run bakery, with locations in Observatory Hill and West View, will officially be closing its doors on Saturday.
First reported by the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, the stores are closing “because owner James Schorr has decided to retire.” Schorr will be undergoing surgery on his foot in the near future, and recovery time could be anywhere from six weeks to six months.
The bakery, known for their famous glazed doughnuts and homemade cakes, has been open since 1973, and is a Pittsburgh favorite.
The Tribune-Review reports that the family is open to selling the business.
