‘Tis the season for holiday cheer, and for many of us, that means heading to a Christmas Tree Farm, and getting a jump on holiday decorating.
There are lots of places to find a Christmas Tree in Pittsburgh and in western Pennsylvania, including a number of spots that let you chop your own tree.
As the supply of Christmas trees fluctuates, we recommend checking ahead (we’ve linked to websites and social media pages), or calling before making the trip to make sure that operations are running.

McMeekin Christmas Trees
After more than 40 years in business, McMeekin Christmas Trees in Penn Hills is a holiday favorite for many in the Pittsburgh area. This year, the tree lot opened for the season on November 26, offering pre-cut trees from their lot. This year, they’ll be open Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. McMeekin Christmas Trees (47 Verona Road, Penn Hills)
Trax Farms
Enjoy some fun on the farm at Trax Farms in Finleyville! This beloved farm market is open with pick-your-own pre-cut trees from their tree lot, or you can head out into their fields to cut-your-own. They note that cut-your-own trees are limited this year. Tree prices and more information can be found online. While Shadyside Nursery isn’t a Christmas Tree Farm, they opened for the Christmas season on Friday, November 25, offering a large selection of pre-cut Christmas trees (they’ll also put it on your car, or they’ll deliver it to you for a $20 fee), plus fresh wreaths, made to benefit Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh. Allison’s Christmas Trees
Allison’s Christmas Tree Farm is located in Raccoon Township in Beaver County, and has been in business since 1992. They have cut-your-own trees, pre-cut trees, hay rides (though weather restrictions may apply), and a Christmas barn with crafts, ornaments, and fresh wreaths. Hozak Farms
Hozak Farms in Clinton is open daily from now through December 23 from 9:00 a.m. (on weekends) and 10:00 a.m. (on weekdays) until 5:00 p.m., offering cut-your-own trees in their field (and a tractor ride to take you out), plus pre-cut trees in their tree lot. Lake Forest Gardens
Lake Forest Gardens is be open daily for the 2022 Christmas season beginning Friday, November 25. They’ll be offering hay rides to their field for cut-your-own trees, and an option to walk across the road to a field of trees for cutting, if you’d like to avoid the hayride. Cypher’s Tree Farm
The lovely Cypher’s Tree Farm is open for the 2022 season starting on Friday, November 26. They’re open through December 10 (check their website for daily opening hours), offering pre-cut trees (their cut-your-own fields are closed for the season). Grupps Christmas Trees
Grupps Christmas Trees is one of the most popular Christmas Tree Farms in the Pittsburgh area. The farm offers two varieties of trees this year that you can cut yourself, including White Pine and Canaan Fir. They also have a selection of pre-cut Fraser Fir trees. The tree farm is open Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and weekends from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Remember, they are cash or check only. Smithfield’s Quarter Pine Tree Farm will be open for the holiday season on Friday, November 25. The pick-your-own farm (they also have pre-cut trees, and lots of festive wreaths) will be open daily (weather permitting) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After this weekend, they will only have pre-cut Fraser Firs available. McConnell’s Christmas Trees
This family-run Christmas Tree Farm will be open for the 2022 season on Friday, November 25, offering cut-your-own trees, along with pre-cut trees in their tree lot, plus Balled & Burlap trees, which are live-rooted trees you can plant after the holidays. McConnell’s Christmas Trees is daily through Christmas Eve, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sundays.
