We’re in the last days of 2020 – and what a year it’s been.
And although we won’t be celebrating New Year’s Eve in Pittsburgh with parties or get-togethers this year, at-home celebrations (and Zoom countdowns!) will be just as fun with these restaurant-prepared feasts and local cocktail ideas.

DiAnoia’s Eatery: On New Year’s Eve, DiAnoia’s Eatery is offering a special holiday Italian New Year’s Eve Feast, with menu items like Lobster Salad, Bucatini with porcini cream sauce and stuffed Porchetta. Dinners are $75 per person, and additional menu items and cocktails can also be purchased. DiAnoia’s Pane e Pronto is also offering New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day selections, with pans of lasagna, meatballs, and a New Year’s Day package ($36 each) with Salty Pork Bits Sweet Italian Sausage, braised cabbage and fennel and braised lentils. Station: Station in Bloomfield is going big for New Year’s Eve, offering a three-course dinner, ready to be reheated at home. The menu features a 24-oz. Roasted Garlic and Savory-Rubbed Prime Rib with black garlic jus, roasted chestnut gnocchi, cheddar truffle Brussels sprouts, chicken liver mousse crostini, and more – plus sparkling wine and Blood Orange Cordials. The Vandal: The Vandal’s New Year’s Eve three-course dinner is $55 per person, and available for pickup on New Year’s Eve. On the menu is Mediterra Sourdough bread and herb butter, Antipasti, a choice of Squash Soup or Poached Pear Salad, and Duck Confit, with Farro risotto and cranberry chutney. Order online. Scratch & Co: Scratch & Co’s New Year’s Day dinner is available for pickup from December 28 through December 31 at their Troy Hill location, or their Bar Botanico pop-up in Lawrenceville. Enjoy slow-cooked Pork Shoulder, paired with their own Red Sauerkraut and Fermented Turnip Puree. Dinners are $18 each, and can be combined with a MADE gift pack of their jarred products for $29. Wild Child: Orders for New Year’s Eve dinner from Wild Child are due by Tuesday, December 29 at 8:00 p.m. Chef Jamilka Borges’ menu for two will include the choice of Braised Lamb Shank with Guava Glaze or Duck Leg Confit with Passion Fruit, plus Shrimp + Albacore Ceviche with Tostones, Trifongo and Flan de Queso. Revival On Lincoln: Order New Year’s Eve dinner by December 28 from Revival on Lincoln in Bellevue. Their dinner includes Lobster Bisque, Roasted Beet & Sweet Potato Salad, Crab Cakes, Grilled Petit Filet of Beef, Cheesecake and rolls. Dinners are $125, and serve two. Order by calling 412-223-5715. Pane è Pronto: Italian specialties symbolizing luck and prosperity are on the takeout menu for New Year’s Eve. They’re offering pork (Salty Pork Bits and DiAnoia’s sweet Italian sausage), stewed lentils with roasted carrots and garlic, and braised cabbage and fennel. They’ll also have a selection of fresh-baked breads, including sourdough, focaccia and Calabrian pitta bread, and holiday cookies. Preorder online for pickup on December 31. (2627 Penn Avenue)
Alta Via: Alta Via has a selection of New Year’s Eve packages available. Order by December 30 at 5:00 p.m. for pickup on December 31. Mad Mex: The Mad New Year’s Eve Party Pack includes two 16 oz. frozen margaritas, chips and salsa, your choice of appetizer or wings, two entrees of your choice, a brownie, and New Year’s Eve party favors for $60. Butterjoint: Butterjoint in Oakland will be offering their regualar takeout menu on New Year’s Eve with burgers, plus additional holiday items, including duck confit. On New Year’s Day, they’ll have pork and sauerkraut from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., along with New Year’s Day cocktails starting at 9:00 a.m. (208 N. Craig Street)
Sausalido: Enjoy the New Year’s Eve at Home box from Sausalido, with a five-course dinner for two. The menu includes Gouda Pesto, Apple Pepita Mixed Green Salad, Romano Pecorino Risotto, Lump Crab Cakes, Filet Tenderloin with Wild Mushroom, Candy Cane Crunch Chocolate Cake, and a Ginger Cranberry Orange Spritzer, for $65. Casbah: New Year’s Eve Take and Bake options from Casbah include Salmon and Crab & Leek Potato Gratin, and they also have a four-course NYE dinner option available for pickup on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Order online. (229 S. Highland Avenue)
The Pennsylvania Market: The Pennsylvania Market will have a few outdoor booths available for private rentals on New Year’s Eve in their Courtyard. Each booth is $50 per person, and includes a four-course meal, and sparkling midnight toast. See more information online. (108 19th Street)
The Lot at Edgewater: On New Year’s Day, the Lot at Edgewater will have a classic holiday meal available for pickup, with grilled, bone-in pork chops, sauerkraut, kielbasa and garlic mashed potatoes, plus salad and bread. Cioppino: The New Year’s Eve Takeout Dinner option at Cioppino is a full Surf & Turf experience, with lobster bisque, wedge salad, steak filets, crab cakes, asparagus, and dessert. Dinners for two are $80, or $100, with a bottle of Stanford Brut Champagne. Order up until December 31 for takeout or contactless curbside pickup online, or call us 412-281-6593. New Year’s Pretzel: If you’ve never tried a giant, soft-baked pretzel bread for New Year’s, you’re missing out. Lots of bakeries are taking orders right now for the traditional loaves, including Bethel Bakery, Oakmont Bakery, Signature Desserts and Jean Marc Chatellier’s.
What to drink
Wigle Whiskey: Get your New Year’s Gin from Wigle Whiskey. They’ve shared their recipe for the perfect New Year’s Eve cocktail, a French 75.
Wigle’s French 75
- 1 ounce Wigle Gin
- 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup (half water, half sugar)
- 2 dashes Wigle Rosemary Lavender Bitters
- 3 ounces Champagne or sparkling cider
- Lemon twist for garnish
Add all the ingredients except the Champagne into a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled. Strain into a Champagne flute. Top with the Champagne and garnish with a lemon twist!

What to do
What the First Night celebration, of course! Though the in-person event is canceled, you can tune in to KDKA (or watch live online) at 11:00 p.m. to hear music, see fireworks, and count down to midnight.
