The Pennsylvania Maple Festival is back for its 73rd year, and sweeter than ever.

This year’s festival will take place on Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29, and from April 1 through April 5 at Festival Park in Meyersdale.

The annual Somerset County festival includes the tapping of maple syrup from local area maple trees, maple syrup-making demonstrations, and lots of family-friendly activities. There will also be artists and crafters selling wares, a parade, live entertainment, performances of ‘Legend of the Magic Water,’ production, a quilt show, a run/walk race, a Maple Queen contest, an antique show, an auto show, and lots of food and concessions.

Food & Drink

One highlight is the festival’s famous Lion’s Pancake & Sausage meal, featuring homemade pancakes, sausage links, and (you guessed it), plenty of local maple syrup. The all-you-can-eat meal is $8 for adults, and $4.50 for children under 12, and takes place at the “Pancake Shack” in the T.G. Saylor Community Center.

This year will also include a Sit & Sip Garden for adults 21 and older on Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In the garden, you’ll find tastings of beer, wine and whiskey from Whitehorse Brewery (featuring a Maple Beer made with pure maple syrup), Tall Pines Distillery (featuring Maple Rye Whiskey), and Christian Klay Winery. Sit & Sip Garden tickets are $10 per person.

Maple Activities

Attendees of the festival can also learn how to tap a tree, boil sap into syrup, and make sugar cakes. Guests can also learn how to twirl spotza, a sweet treat made by boiling maple syrup down to the soft ball stage, and then pouring it over crushed ice to form a soft, clear taffy.

There will be plenty of Pennsylvania maple producers on hand, selling maple products, from syrup to candy.

Special events include:

  • Legend of the Magic Water’ performances: March 28, April 3, April 4
  • Truck, Motorcycle, Side By Side & ATV Show – Sunday, March 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Annual Quilt Show – located at the Meyersdale Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall (202 Main Street)
  • Maple Race Run/Walk – Saturday, April 4
  • The Grand Feature Parade – Saturday, April 4 at 1:00 p.m
  • Antique, Classic & Street Rod Auto Show – Sunday, April 5 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
